Most Americans Now Can Prepare and E-File Their Taxes Online
Every Income Tax Return that chooses e-filing method will be electronically filed with the IRS and approved by the IRS within as little as twenty four hours. To check your Federal Income Tax Return status with www.irs.gov please go to this page.
The IRS has a strong incentive to make it easier for taxpayers to file online. The agency is under a congressional mandate to have 80 percent of individual filers file electronically by 2007. That goal stems from a partnership agreement between the IRS and the private sector Council for Electronic Revenue Communication Advancement.
The agreement requires the Alliance, as a whole, to provide free services to at least 60 percent or 78 million of the nation's taxpayers through April 15. Last filing season (2001), the IRS received nearly 85 million paper returns and nearly 47 million e-filed returns.
Alliance members' proprietary software will assist taxpayers in completing their Federal Income Tax Returns and help ensure taxpayers are aware of tax credits and deductions for which they may be eligible. The IRS has launched a campaign to highlight the benefits of IRS e-file for individuals and small businesses. As more taxpayers realize the benefits of e-file, including fast refunds, ease of use and reduced errors, the e-file trend is expected to continue its upswing in the future.
The Internal Revenue Service really wants you to file your income tax returns electronically. And, so far, the results are impressive: Fully a third of income tax returns are e-filed online, and to get you to file electronically, they make two big promises.
The biggest is: If you e-file early expecting a refund and use direct deposit, you'll get your money back much more quickly than if you file by mail.
Second is that the tax return will be more accurate. IRS staffers who process tax returns by hand do create a number of errors.
E-filing is Easy. E-filing catches math problems, provides confirmation your return has been received and gives you a faster refund. While you can't e-file directly from the IRS Web site, you can e file today with www.TaxesByExperts.com an IRS authorized e-file provider. Please note we charge a fee for filing.
